Adwaita Mission High School, Shivdham, P.O: Maniyarpur, Dist: Banka, established in 2001 is an autonomous one where all students irrespective of their language, religion, caste or creed are welcomed to receive education from nursery to Class X. The institution is running under the aegis of Mandar Vidyapith Educational Foundation Trust. It is an English Medium, Co-educational Senior Secondary School with boarding facilities for both the boys and girls, its parent body, Mandar Vidyapith has been taking a pioneering role in the educational realm of Bhagalpur region since it’s launching (1945), it has been imparting knowledge and wisdom both in the field of education and culture. Its educational programme is based on the philosophy of the Upanishad as preached by the great Acharya Shankara and Swami Vivekananda.
The Spirit of the Adwaita Mission is embedded in the motto ' Every man is potentially divine’ and as such 'power, knowledge, bliss, absolute’, to lead an angelic life on the basis of above mentioned philosophy and to build up a casteless and classless society where love will be the law and service will be the religion of people. For this, our approach is cultural. By culture, we mean a cultural movement to study, understand and appreciate the values within us and with others.
Anand Shankar Madhavan (1914-2007)
Late Anand Shankar Madhavan, a visionary and legendary luminary, sacrificed and dedicated his whole life for the cause of social service and promotion of ideal and quality education for the younger generation. Being a non-Hindi speaking Keralite, he chose to remain at this remote place with rural surroundings of Mandar Hill keeping a view to propagate Hindi language among the masses. He established Mandar Vidyapith in 1945 and later on founded Adwaita Mission in 1990. Madhavan, a product of Jamia Millia, an old pupil and devout disciple of Late Dr. Zakir Hussain was a staunch nationalist, great freedom fighter, true Gandhian, devoted philanthropist as well as a renowned social worker. A man of simple living but high thinking, he was a literary figure, man of academic repute, thinker as well as a writer par excellence with philosophical instincts. He wrote more than 55 books on varied subjects viz., literature, culture, education, religion etc
